What's in a name?

Tengu is looking for a creative, resilient, talented backend engineer with the right intrinsic motivation to build the PaaS solution of our start-up.

You will have the unique opportunity to make an impact and work alongside our small team of core platform engineers.

The Tengu Engineering Team is a 5-person team that consists of two Backend Engineers, two Frontend Engineers and a CTO.

What your day is going to look like?

  • Develop solutions for scalability, platform performance, and much more related to the Tengu platform’s backend part.
  • Develop new functionalities and documentation, together with our other engineers and smarketing team.
  • Help maintain the production and development setups; these are some sizeable Kubernetes clusters.
  • Keep changes small and iterate towards the best solution.
  • Review and test the developed solutions and features from other engineers in the team.
  • Document best practices or patterns.
  • Actively research for and try out new open-source technologies that our customers or we could benefit from using.
  • Research, design and implement solutions to improve product performance.
  • Improve, first and foremost, yourself and also our DataOps Orchestration platform.
  • Help set DataOps at the forefront of every business and build the community.

Who are we looking for?

  • You have significant professional software engineering experience in start-up or scale-up environments.
  • You are fluent in Python; other languages are a plus but are not required.
  • You can reason about software, algorithms, and performance from a high level.
  • We heavily rely on Kubernetes, so this piece of tech should have no secrets for you. We expect at least two years of experience.
  • Technologies such as InfluxDB, ArangoDB, Postgresql, Google Cloud DNS, REST, Service Mesh, Kafka and Argo CD should at least be known as a concept.
  • You are passionate about open source and data.
  • You are self-motivated, independent and self-organised, and always works tight together with all the teams in an agile way.
  • You enjoy expanding your horizons and growing as a person daily. You are not afraid to share your feedback and insights to develop further and improve yourself, the team, the processes, the product and the company.
  • You can thrive in a fully remote organisation (in these unusual times).
  • Suppose you consider yourself an open communicator, an eager learner, a creative problem solver, a conscientious worker, and a thoughtful, kind and supportive person. In that case, you will be a good fit and might have found your second home with us.

  • We believe our team is the heart of the company. The happiness and life-work balance and a safe work environment for each team member are most important to us, thus part of our shared values.
